Form & Function
All too frequently I find that designers are fascinated with pure aesthetics and often trade off function to achieve their goal. These ideas, form and function, should not be considered separately. Pure form can be strikingly beautiful, but completely lacking in function. Whereas pure function can solve many problems in seemingly clever ways.
When designing a website it’s the designers responsibility to combine both form and function. Much easier said than done. The greatest challenge a designer will face is bringing together a great design with the functionality necessary to improve the potential of a product. A designer can not and must not sacrifice the intentions of a product’s brand or objective for a great design, or it will be lacking.
